How to Install Blink Outdoor Camera

Blink is a home security camera that’s easy to install and use. As with any device that acts as your personal bodyguard, it’s important to make sure it’s secure. It could be a target for hackers or someone who wants to see inside your house without permission. You may also want to install Blink on your own instead of relying on an installer or contractor. If so, here’s how you can do it.

What you need

Here is what you will need to install your Blink Outdoor Camera:

  • A Blink Hub or Blink Hub 2
  • A USB cable, which comes with the camera. You can also use any high-speed micro-USB cable that’s at least 10 feet long, but we recommend using the one included in your box!
  • An internet connection (either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet)

How to Install Blink Outdoor Camera

Put the Blink on a table

To install the Blink, place it on a flat surface. You don’t want to put it in direct sunlight or near any other electronics. This can cause interference and make your camera not work properly.

The next step is to plug your camera into the wall. It will automatically turn on and start blinking green lights at you.

Connect to Wi-Fi

To connect to Wi-Fi, you must first be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. If you’re not sure what your home’s Wi-Fi password is, check with its owner or look on their router for instructions.

When you install Blink outdoor camera, it will automatically connect to any available networks within range of its signal. If there are no networks available, please contact your internet provider and ask them if they can extend their network range by boosting their signal strength or relocating their equipment closer to where you’ll be installing Blink outdoor camera (or somewhere else altogether).

Connect to your Blink account.

To access your Blink account, you’ll need to use the Blink app.

  • Open the Blink app and select Connected Home.
  • Select Add New Device. If you have an existing account but don’t see this option, try going into Settings > Accounts > Add Account and adding one there first.
  • Complete setup by connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and creating a new account if necessary (or logging in with an existing one).

Mount your Blink camera

Mount your Blink camera on the side of your house, preferably near a window so you can check in from time to time. Make sure it’s high enough to capture the entire yard and low enough to see through windows and into doors. Also make sure there are no other cameras around that could interfere with its signal.

Configure Alerts and Notifications

To configure alerts and notifications, follow these steps:

  • Go to the Blink app and tap the menu icon in the top right corner. Then select Settings.
  • Tap Notifications and Alerts to open up a list of options that you can enable or disable (such as Motion Detection, Face Recognition). You can also choose when you want to be notified by tapping on each option individually: Never; When Someone Arrives Home; When Someone Leaves Home; Or Always On For All Events

Conclusion

Blink is a great camera for outdoor use. It’s easy to set up, and it has some great features. You can use Blink as part of your smart home system or just keep an eye on things from your phone wherever you are. It’s even better if you have more than one Blink camera because then you can monitor multiple locations from one app!
